The all-round sustainable development of any society depends upon the comprehensive and integrated development of all its sections particularly the backward and deprived ones. Obviously the strength of any society also depends upon a homogenous unified and organized social fabric.

Keeping this broad objective in view Sewa Bharti, Delhi a registered N.G.O. was started in 1979 with the objective to endeavour to develop economically and socially backward strata of society and inculcate in them the feeling of self respect, self-reliance and self confidence.

Therefore diversified initiatives were taken in the area of health, education, self reliance, medical services, women empowerment and creation of homogenous society by organizing various social programs such as participation in the festivals of weaker sections of the society, organizing community marriages of the weaker sections and efforts to bring them in the main streamline through meetings discourses, preventive health programs and literacy initiatives. A humble beginning was made in 1979 by setting a small teaching centre in Jahangirpuri which has now become a banyan tree. This is but for the tireless, selfless and dedicated work of a stream of workers.
